Great selection for modern guitars. It’s not the same old selection of just fenders like at other stores. They have PRS, Ibanez and other great brands.
The manager is a great help and knowledgeable, helped me with choosing new kind of strings I havent tried before.
Also looks like he is trying to get new innovative products and not stuck in 1970.

They had my flute for 3 weeks to tune it up and replace the pads. My flute has not been playing well and after my band teacher looked at it, she noticed that none of the work was done that was supposed to be done.

Completely over priced! Prices on the menu don’t watch the price charged. $4 for seltzer water!! And all drinks that were never refilled even though we asked. Waitress said she doesn’t set the prices. We needed up paying $74 for 2 calzones, 2 kids pizzas and 4 drinks. (With no refills) place was dirty and run down. And the food wasn’t good either.
Went in with group scouting stops for a veterans ride, and after 30+ minutes of being ignored, we all left without even one beverage or anything. Another event organizer for a Veterans group contacted the establishment about a small group stopping there during a Suicide Prevention Run, and was told not to come in, they’re not interested. So they don’t support Veterans or serve anyone other than locals. Won’t try a 3rd time

Gina is a consummate musical instrument expert, especially when it comes to Flutes, Horns, and the litany of Brass Band instruments. I reached out via email to her business after hours and received a return phone call immediately and she proceeded to run me thru the gamut of her Saxophone collection on hand and educated me on each and every one I inquired about and lastly she offered an a phenomenal deal on a mint condition Sax that I would have been foolish to bypass. To top it all off she had the instrument overnighted to me (unbeknownst to me). My inspection proved that she was spot on in her description on the instruments condition. I can’t give enough accolades to Gina and her team. Thanks a million Gina!!!
We were looking for a professional Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone online for WEEKS, when we came across this store. We were able to get the Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone used (but in impecable condition) for an excellent price. A new Getzen 3062AFR is very expensive, so we eagerly bought it. As we purchased it, Gina was very helpful and gave us photos and a thorough description of the instrument. As the product shipped, we were frequently updated on where it was on its process. An amazing store.

great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?

When I was getting started with my new band in 2003, I talked to Tim the ‘Drum God’ and he hooked me up with a sick set at a great price. I recently decided to upgrade to a slightly more professional set and I was looking around at used sets online when I ran across Tim’s used sets on Reverb and realized I should just call him. Sure enough, not only is he still there, but he’s as helpful and knowledgeable as ever. These guys have always been really fantastic at helping musicians out and being respectful of budgets and needs. They’re always enthusiastic about their products, but don’t foist unwelcome opinions on their customers, which is a huge thing in the musical instrument world. Can’t honestly recommend enough. Go here and buy your stuff.

I purchased a guitar from this company for my husband, it was a 7 string Schecter Omen which was something he had been wanting for quite some time so I purchased it as a surprise gift for him. He used the guitar once and the next time he went to play it wasn’t working. We took it to a company that fixes guitars and they informed us that it was a used guitar.. I paid full price for a guitar that was not only USED but BROKE immediately after purchase!! If you’re in the market for a guitar I highly suggest that you search elsewhere. Bought a Schecter Tempest custom which was “supposed” to come with American made Seymour Duncan pickups. After I purchased the guitar they emailed me saying there was an “issue” with my pickups, and that they needed to be replaced. Yeah; they replaced them alright…with Duncan Disigned pickups…..scumbags.

I came in a few times for a cocktail drum purchase and didn’t find prices that fit my budget (which is fine, it was nice equipment and they’re a used store!). I came back to try and trade things in for accessories instead (bass pedal/Hi-Hat stand) but the trade in value was changed when I got there if I didn’t buy multiple items. Again fair enough, it’s a used shop and they need to make money.
I came yesterday to grab a floor Tom ring and Tim was pretty short with me a bit immature saying “Hey, we finally sold you something!” tried to upsell me on a bass drum head for my new kick and when I was said goodbye, he ignored me while walking away.
I truly do not like to write these messages or send negativity to a used music shop as I had been apart of one for a very long time but if you can’t find me what I’m looking for at a price that is in my range: do not make it my problem and make me feel unwanted. I sent an email addressed to Tim specifically to remedy the situation and I haven’t heard anything back. So I’m writing it here to not treat others this way.
Everyone needs to make money but jeez, don’t run your customers out when they finally find something that works for them with you.

I was amazed at the time and care that went into my purchase. No pressure – in fact the opposite – take your time and make sure you are getting the guitar that’s right for you. So you get great service and then the prices seem to be below web prices. From my short time at Spotlight, I see a music community that provides all facets of expertise. Fort Collins is lucky to have such a great shopping opportunity.

I’ve got a Breedlove Stage Pursuit, 7 years old, played nearly an hour every day. Prob needs some setup by July 1 for getting back on-platform at Timberline Church. Everyone at Guitar Hut is awesome! Great customer service, wonderful instructors, friendly, helpful, just awesome. If you need a guitar, lessons, kid lessons, strings, whatever guitar related, this is the only place you need.
I bought a bass online and knew it was going to need a set up. I have driven by Guitar Hut for years, but never went in, so I took my bass and talked to the guys there and they heard exactly what I wanted and gave it to me. Their professionalism and knowledge were astonishing and their price was even lower than less well-qualified places. This shop is worth a drive even from Denver or Brighton or Fort Collins. Super friendly, well-stocked and knowledgeable musicians.
I had these guys take a look at a signature bass of mine. It had some electrical problems going on with it that were a bit out of their knowledge base but Evan is great guy. Very honest and very hard working. I will return with any other problems I have in the future and I would recommend them. Their pricing is very fair and they are willing to help out customers any way they can.
I called to sign my boys up for guitar lessons and had a few options worked out and was told I would be called back to confirm which times worked. I never heard back. Then, when I called back to confirm options, I was told they didn’t have any of my information logged and there were no longer any time slots available for lessons.
Everyone I have met there seems very nice, but very poorly organized.

I use to shop here all the time over the last 5 Year’s, not any more however. Ive witnessed the woman behind the register speak down to customers constantly, rip off a friend that sold her vinyl, and generally act annoyed that she has to be helping you. She never seemed to have a problem with me until recently, Decent collection of vinyl, most everything is overpriced, especially music equipment. Don’t think I’m coming back, sorry.

Way overpriced records and lots of vinyl shops between Denver and here to spend your money. There was a 3 little pigs record (childrens record) you could find anywhere for $1 for $10. Just for an example of the price gouging over here.
I took over 50 albums to see what I could get. On discogs I could conservatively get about $1000 they were not all mint records. They offered me $175 for the whole stack. One unopened rsd vinyl was worth $200 alone. Go to foco or Longmont for records. This place is run down and the records are way too overpriced if you’re into records.

I stopped into Sax Alley in search of an alto sax. I am so glad I did. I had been looking online for a sax, but the service I got at Sax Alley was beyond expectation. I was able to discuss my needs, see and touch the saxophones Tim was describing. Tim was fantastic. I got more out of a 15 minute visit than i have out of over 10 hours of online reading and searching. In fact, you just can’t get service and info anywhere near this valuable online. I agree with others. This is THE place to go in Northern Colorado.

They also have a repair shop across the street with experts to fix musical instruments. It is worth going out of your way to visit HB Woodsongs.
The staff is friendly, and there’s a good selection of books and instruments.

My guitar teacher just moved his studio to Flipside. Being new to guitar, guitar stores can be a little intimidating, not this one! Ike and Dylan were very welcoming. You can tell the two of them know what works and what doesn’t by the quality guitars and accessories they carry. Check this place out, it won’t be a waste of your time.

This store is one of Denver’s hidden gems! I walked in looking for a bass pre-amp… These guys blew me away with their knowledge and friendlyness. They definitely know their stuff. I’d recommend flip side to any bassist or guitarist for any needs except repairs( I don’t know if they do repairs, I didn’t ask, as I already have a guy for that…).

Jay delivered our 100yr old upright grand piano yesterday, it is gorgeous! Then he delighted us all as he entertained us with some songs, he’s so much fun! I’m grateful we found Jay. We had been looking for a piano for a while and each was either too $$$ or not in good shape. Jay is doing a great service by saving these pianos. He cleans and tunes each one. He has extensive knowledge about pianos and is willing to share all he knows. He took great care and time to explain everything to me so I could select the perfect instrument for our family. He does all this to share his love for the piano and get more pianos into homes. We could not be happier! Thank you Jay, the experience was unforgettable! We’ll treasure our piano forever!

I went in looking for an acoustic guitar for myself (a beginner) and received very good service and attention. I sort of had my eye on a Taylor, and they had a broad selection of Taylors. They also had me try a couple other brands/models so I could really get a feel for what I liked, and I walked out with a lovely Taylor Academy 10e that I’m really, really happy with!
I recently was in the market for a new acoustic and went to the Folklore Center. Customer service was excellent and all the employees and owner were extremely helpful in helping me choose a guitar that fit the playing style and budget I was looking for. I walked out feeling very happy with my purchase. They have a beautiful selection of instruments they keep in great shape. They also include a free restringing. Can’t recommend the Folklore Center enough!
This was a fantastic little shop. If you are looking for some high-end musical instruments, I would definitely suggest that you stop by. The staff gave in depth information on what made each instrument special.

Exciting to have a local non chain (read “Guitar Center”) acoustic musical instrument store in the hood. Experts in not only guitars, but dulcimers and mandolins too! Experienced in their craft, and repairs.
Worst service ever! Don’t go to this place for guitar help. Go for frustration and disappointment. They’re really good at providing that.

Came here while on a trip with a friend and mandolin student who was in the market for a new mandolin. She hadn’t played many because there aren’t really any places to play them where we live. I am always in the market for new instruments I like, and have several multi-thousand dollar instruments. So we went to the store, which had no other customers there, and looked at the mandolins.
She is pretty shy so I wanted to loosen her up into not feeling judged and free to try and compare. I grabbed one of the cheaper mandolins and did my typical trying out a mando routine of playing parts of tunes that try out the high, low, and mid ranges of the instrument. As soon as she started playing one of the cheaper Kentucky mandolins softly some guy came over and asked what we were looking for and that we could only play the instruments if we were going to buy them.
I gave him a quick synopsis of the situation and made the point that it’s hard to know what we’d want to buy until having played it. He replied with a smirk and said he could show us to something specific if we were interested, but couldn’t condone “jamming”. I was bewildered as we were not jamming at all, but simply lightly playing on some cheap mandolins at the same time.
Eventually he showed me to some octave mandolin that I pretended to be interested in due to the feeling that if I didn’t tell him something specific we’d be kicked out or something. I felt suspicious somehow. When he left, some younger guy came over and he was really cool. But that older guy killed any good vibes. I didn’t even try all the instruments I would have been considering to buy.
One would think that, especially in this day and age, brick and mortar music stores need to be a sanctuary for players to play instruments they’re shopping for.
