We love Miss Aubrey and the music family class. Both my kids have had such great experiences. She is so contagiously fun and does a great job engaging with everyone while also teaching your children about music. I love that the class is designed for parents to participate as well. Hands down one of our favorite early childhood activities!
Best Music and Creative Arts School in Maui! Would highly recommend signing your kids up for classes at this upcountry School!
Our daughter attended music class with La-ti-Da and Miss Aubrey for 3 consecutive classes at age 1 through 2 years old until we moved away. We definitely would have stayed enrolled with them as there is nothing like her class here where we now live. Miss Aubrey knows how to connect with the kids and keep everyone, including the parents, involved. We miss La-ti-da very much and we owe a part of my daughter’s love for music to La-ti-da.

Store jammed with loads of different instruments and their nice staff are all very helpful!
Good selection of ukes to choose from with resonable prices.
Very patient salesperson. Explored all possibilities for purchasing. Very nice selection of instruments to choose from. Overall very pleasant experience. Been patronizing Bounty Music since the 1980’s
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!
Hey Beware,
I’m sorry but I’ve had a couple of rough experiences at bounty. I wanted to buy an artist series Stratocaster. I explained that I had looked online and was wondering if they could match the price or come close? I was told…
“If you can find it online you should just order it there, it’s easier.” I did explain that I like to support local businesses … but the sales guy was less than interested, and he just ended the conversation by walking away . Boy did I feel naive! I will say that I went online and ordered a nice guitar with free shipping and it was at my door in no time. I’ve since ordered an amp and two more guitars… all online without talking to Bounty. I have to confess that all experiences were “easier” than dealing with Bounty.
I just got off the phone with them and again I can’t believe the attitude. I explained that I was going to ship some guitars to the mainland, and did they have any guitar boxes that they were going to recycle or throw away? If so I would like to reuse them…you know go “green”. I’m not planing to ship for a couple of months.
“no” we don’t have any of those boxes…I was told, but we will sell you a Taylor box for 20$. They hung up on me before I could explain that I can get a bundle of 5 boxes for 8$ (online) with free shipping, so 20$ for 1 box is … well typical Bounty. I’m not really sure what the bad attitude is at Bounty? It is true that you can buy online for quite a bit cheaper than what Bounty offers on almost every single item they carry (this includes shipping costs).
Honestly Bounty seems disinterested and even lazy sometimes. I still go in and look every once in a while, but I don’t feel compelled to spend my money there.
1 star because, really it’s not worth the head ache to drive into town to put up with bad attitude!
I’ll give another star because a couple of the staff members are very nice… so it’s not a total waste of time…
I recommend that you do what I do which is… I just sit at my computer with a hot cup of coffee and shop away.. (go Prime!).
I bought 2 guitars there. I’m happy with the guitars so they get an extra star. Their service is awful. I get that artistic people shouldn’t be expected to be the most professional at work so I gave them slack. I brought my guitar in to get serviced (strings buzzing on electric). Guy X says “The guy who can fix that isn’t here today and to start the process you gotta talk to Guy Y over there.” ( is there really only one person out of the 6 here that knows how to put a tag on a guitar with my name/#/ and problem?) I couldn’t believe only one person knew how to adjust it that worked AT A GUITAR/UKULELE SHOP. Guy X ditches me and I’m left stranded. There was more that day but I’ll stop here because Guy Y basically ignored me and helped people behind me.
I left it there (finally, and it wasn’t guy Y who helped but a girl who saw me there in line for 20 min and felt bad, she put a tag on the guitar with name/#/ and problem). 2 days later I called to see how it was going. They said “Dude, we’ll call you when it’s ready, click.” I went there 3 days after I left it and they said it hadn’t been touched. Would you trust a mechanic who didn’t even touch your car after 3 days in the shop? I wouldn’t. I took it home, watched YouTube videos and got it done.
If you need something NOW you have to go there. I love to support local business, even if they’re more expensive (to be fair in my cases they were not more expensive than online). However, I won’t support any business that is careless with me.
9. Mele Ukulele Paia
Address: 98 Hana Hwy, Paia, HI 96779 , Pukalani , Hawaii , United States
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The ukuleles are a bit pricey compared to cheaper alternatives, but they sound wonderful. Really appreciated the great customer service and help with our purchase.
Carlos Rock was very professional and very patient in explaining to me and my son, John, the differences of ukulele that he has in his family store, located in Paia, Maui. This family owned and operated business has been around Maui over 30 years. We’re visiting from Southern California and appreciated in taking home a peace of Maui, Hawaiian history home as it was made from the koa tree which is locally grown on these islands. So, if you ever visit Maui, go to Mele Ukulele and Carlos will help you pick out a nice hand-crafted ukulele for you. Ours costs $900 but you can find an affordable factory made for $125–$175. We also saw a soprano one that goes for $3000 but we’re not ready for it, yet. You won’t regret it!

Awesome customer service. Worked the purchase of a Kamaka HF-3 with Paul at UKES.COM. I checked other stores for this particular Ukelele, and I either got no response or they were out of stock. UKES.COM quickly responded to my inquiry and had this in stock. Paul was easy to work with and always responded quickly. HIGHLY recommend UKES.COM for all your musical needs. Thanks Paul for your service… and I LOVE the Ukelele.
Kia Ora, Paul was really helpful and gave me options to when I was choosing my ukulele. Even this crazy pandemic didn’t stop him getting my new uke to me in NZ. I’m rapt with my new uke and will recommend this company to others. When …….. international travel resumes I’m still going to Hawaii and will catch up with these guys in person. Cheers Catherine

Pickup and home bound MOLOKAI
The food is fake and the French fries have 17 ingredients, for a potato? No thanks when you find a year old fry and it looks like the day you bought it is not normal.
16. The Root Cellar Studio
Address: 15640 Haleakala Hwy, Kula, HI 96790 , Pukalani , Hawaii , United States
Root Cellar Studio is a top notch studio. Great mics, great preamps, great comps and great AD/DA Converters. The ambiance is stellar, and the acoustics are on point. Top all of that off with a First Class Engineer, who is skilled and willing to go the extra mile for his clients. Highly Recommended.
What a great experience I have had recording at Root Cellar Studio. Very professional, clean and comfortable environment. The mic and amp selection is top shelf in addition to the skillful engineering and mixing . I have recorded 4 different projects there now and looking forward to the next opportunity I have to make art there again. High value, well worth the investment.
I would strongly recommend this studio to any professional artist.
This is my favorite recording studio on Maui. They always have the best equipment and they are constantly upgrading. The pursuit of excellence in knowledge and recording quality clearly shine above the rest as far as recording on maui is concerned.
David is easy to work with and goes out of his way to capture the artists vision. Thanks for all of your help and great recordings David. I am looking forward to the next session.
When can I stop by and check it out very interested in making music
Awesome location, great people, and a wide selection of awesome parts, merchandise, and gear.
Love the place! They did a great job in such short amount of time, staff is very nice and helpful. Place is very organized and neat, they definitely deserve 5 stars!
