Garrett and the guys there always got great customer service. They are always there to help you out!
EXCELLENT ! PRICED RIGHT , TOP NOTCH AND KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF.
Employees know there job but convenience is a -1
Chad was very helpful.
I like buying local. I got good service on a brass instrument repair. ( I didn’t try to use a pick )
Rude! Told them I was just looking around at the moment and was laughed at…. shameful behavior by talentless jokes!
Prices are a bit too high on certain instruments plus the employees are very nosey… If you respect personal boundaries go elsewhere.
We just went to this place to rent a student flute for my daughter’s first year in band. My first red flag should have been that they told me they, “weren’t sure” if they would rent an instrument for fifth grade. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Mind you- the only reason we went to the store in the first place is because the school gave us a flyer advertising their rental options. We sat and waited for them to “process and pull” the rental and print my rental agreement. A different person than I initially spoke with came out and told me that they could not approve me for the rental. I’d say that their standards are pretty stringent. I have a great salary job on my application. I can get approval for a credit card, a car note, but not a student flute? They collect your card and account info. How high risk can it be considering that they can withdraw my 30 bucks every month? I told the man “You know what? That’s ok, I can have my mom come up here and do it, she has great credit.” He then proceeded to tell me that he will not allow grandparents the rent instruments, only parents. Uh…What?? What difference does it make? What about the kids whose guardian is not their parent? It’s just a bit much for a 30 dollar a month commitment and a 400 dollar instrument. He told me of their rent to purchase option. You end up paying 850 bucks for an instrument that retails half of that and pay more than the instrument is actually worth in a down payment. No thanks. He also offered to sell us one for 250. For a first year music student who may end up not liking band? I think not. We took our business to New School of Music 5 minutes down the road and it was quick, easy, and actually more affordable. My husband is always in the market for another guitar (purchase not rent) and we will be getting guitar lessons for my middle child. We definitely not be purchasing any of our instruments or lessons from Jackson’s.
So, I brought my project guitar to Ruth Guitars that I’ve been holding onto for years. I asked him to build it how he would like it. Oops! Turned out way better than I had ever thought! He was able to install the neck, wire in a crazy cool pick up, added strings and locking bar for the tuners. Superb work! I’ve played several of his guitars and they all have great action and are super comfortable! Highly recommended!
Chris at Ruth Guitars is pretty much the only person I trust w my gtrs. I play over 200 shows a year, and trust Chris w all my electronic work, set ups, he’s even lent me a couple custom made LG Series guitars for high profile gigs. His custom builds come standard w superior hardware including premium handwired pickups. From repairs to tone-shaping and beyond, Chris at Ruth Guitars always goes above expectations and over-delivers a product that is eye-catching, fun to play, sounds impossibly good, custom made to your specs, and affordable. Call him TODAY for any repair or maintenance, its getting cold out! You’ll want to get your hands on one of his numerous custom builds (If you can get it off his wall long enough I recommend the black LG model) and start spec’ing YOUR handmade custom model. Pictured below is the TC model w literally too many tonal options to list here. Your tonal palette is only limited by your own imagination. Chris can bring your dream sound to your hands! I wish I could give more than 5-stars!
4. Hootenanny’s Music
Address: 572 Maddox Dr, East Ellijay, GA 30540 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
Awesome store! I went in looking for something that I didn’t know the name of and I was helped right away and found something better than what I was looking for. Also, the owner/manager was very friendly and offered friendly suggestions and was informative on their services and musical lessons. I will definitely refer my friends to this place and I will be visiting again soon. Also, they have a punch card deal on buying strings or drum sticks!
Best Music and Instrument shop in town!! Support Local!!
My child has learned so much, the teachers are amazing.
Very friendly and helpful with your question and needs
I had a refret over a year ago now, and it was perfect then and it’s still perfect now! Greg is THE man to talk to about stainless frets, hands down. I even had him measure and attempt to match the feel of one of my other guitars, and that odd request was met with an open mind by Greg and he was able to nail the feel I wanted as well! As a working guitarist in the Nashville area, I can testify to the outrageous prices and wait times in Nashville that Greg talks about on his website. It is not Greg trying to throw a sales pitch, it’s the truth. I’ve had my guitars worked on by Nashville’s “top” luthiers and I can say, unequivocally, that my work done at Aperion was far less expensive, faster, and BETTER! Maybe best of all I didn’t feel like I was being stared at down the nose, as is often the case in Nashville. Can’t say enough good things about the whole experience.
I had Greg do a stainless steel refret on my maple fretboard Stratocaster. Two luthiers told me they would need to refinish the board for a re-fret, but Greg was able to do it without refinishing! Greg was super informative and transparent by sending pics and detailed assessments throughout the entire re-fretting process. Highly recommended for stainless steel re-frets.
I sent my prized 1978 Telecaster to Aperio guitars for a refret. I wanted to give Greg a shot at refretting one of my favorite guitars. I shipped the guitar to Greg. Within a few days Gregg called me with a review of his findings, helped me pick the stainless fret size that would fit my playing style (and neck), and scheduled the refret . I waited {nervously) for my Tele to be returned.
The guitar came back on the date promised. WOW!!! The guitar / fretwork he did was incredible. I did not realize how hard my Telecaster was to play until Gregg used his refret magic on it and returned it to me. The guitar playability improved 10 fold. Actually, had I been blindfolded and given 3 guitars to play I would have picked my tele as the best playing, but, would not have known it was MY TELE !!! Yes, he is THAT good!!! And the icing on the cake-these are STAINLESS FRETS!!! Doubtful this guitar will ever need another refret. Great work Greg. Tried to give you 10 stars but 5 is the limit!!

8. Southern Music Company
Address: 1102 16th Ave E, Cordele, GA 31015 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
I have had the pleasure of doing business with Randy and his staff for the last 20 years. It began with Emmaus and continued on into my association with Andrew Chapel UMC. I personally and for our church have purchased fabulous quality instruments and Randy has been to our church to ensure that our sound system was fine tuned.
Now I once again have the pleasure of purchasing another keyboard from him for my personal use through my husband’s calling to enter the field of Ministry. I look forward to using this keyboard to further the Word of God through music.
Whatever your musical needs are, please give them a call. Everyone is courteous, friendly and proficient with their musical talents. Blessings to you all and thanks for always being there for me both personally and professionally.
The Hawkinsville Opera House is pleased with the service that we receive from Southern Music and look forward to doing business with them again in the future…THANKS
Best place in South GA, they did some repairs on my grandfather’s 1980 ibenez guitar and just all round great job, best people to do business with when it comes to guitars and other musical needs
This is a nice locally owned music store. Very good selection of guitars and other musical instruments. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Stop by and support a small business!
Cool
9. Kirkwood’s Music and Repair
Address: 206 S Belair Rd, Martinez, GA 30907 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
My granddaughter is in band and plays French horn and trumpet. Kirkwood’s has been an invaluable resource for us. Their rental program was easy and we had no issue returning our trumpet when she switched to French horn. My grandson is thinking about playing trombone or drums and we look forward to getting his supplies there.
I originally was a customer of Brunkow’s Music until they closed down. At the time, there was only one other music store that I was familiar with so I began to do business there. I never was completely happy with this particular music store and I have never been a huge fan of business chains. Then, someone told me about Kirkwood’s. I took my flute in to be repaired and was highly satisfied with the work and the turn-around time. A huge bonus and selling point for me was and still is their excellent customer service! Also they are a locally owned business. I no longer take my instrument anywhere else for repairs and handle all of my music needs there. If they don’t have what I need, they never hesitate to order it for me in a timely manner. I have been a Kirkwood’s Music and Repair customer for 7 years now and have yet to have a poor experience.
I brought my vintage sterling silver trombone to Kirkwood for some dent removal and slide work. I found his service to be fast and reasonably-priced. His repairs were spot on. I found out later that the really nice lady that waited on me is Kirkwood’s mom. I love doing business with them!
Very helpful staff. Excellent choices for piano teaching books.
Gentlemen upfront extremely nice(thank you for your help and knowledge). I explained the situation and since my employment seemed sketchy I understood. I agreed to do the credit check which is not a soft inquiry it is a hard inquiry which stays on your credit for 2 years and deducts 5 points. But still trying to explain very nicely my situation(never vulgar or raised my voice) the heavy man in back said and I quote “I am not trying to get verbal with you and threaten you in front of your son”. Anyone who has had their identity stolen understands. But I do not appreciate being threatened.
I have come here for some of my repairs before…but today was the first time I’ve ever seen a business have a sign saying they’re open with the door locked and have on the door saying “I’m in the back working on something at the moment and please wait 10 minutes. If 10 minutes have passed, please read the sign again.” Some customers may have the ability to do so. However, unfortunately my situation is where I have to use a knee scooter due to a disability and had to depend on someone for a ride. I just think thats bad business practice and me personally will have to think twice due to my circumstances.
Terrible customer service. I brought in an instrument just to be looked at to see whether it needed to be repaired or not. The guy looked at it and gave me attitude while calling it a piece of junk and said that he refused to work on it. He wasn’t willing to work with me at all and offered no reason other than it was a piece of junk. He was extremely rude and inconsiderate. I know I don’t have a $5000 instrument, but at least be polite about it instead of insulting me to my face. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

11. Guitar Center
Address: 1455 Pleasant Hill Rd, Lawrenceville, GA 30044 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
Great staff. Heard staff playing through guitar rigs, playing well knowing what were great sounds. We were there to check out acoustic guitars. We found the acoustic guitar room. Started the weeding out process, staff checking in to make sure we were finding what we needed. We found a great guitar, did a little negotiating, struck a deal and got it done. Special thanks to David for being our store liason and thanks to everyone at Guitar Center Pleasant Hill. All the best from The Uncle Shagg Daddy Band.
Muy eficiente y respetuosos
Este lugar es uno de los mejores lugares para todo tipo de aparatos de música mi hijo y yo bamos mucho para ese lugar es donde emos comprado guitarras y otros artículos de música
The remodeled floor area is not for the better. Customer service was ok, but not great.
Don’t expect to try some of the better guitars without a hassle as they are now locked, so you have to get a manager every time you want to try anything 800 bucks or more.
Guitar selection is limited. They cary only the most popular brands, but leave much to be wanted. In a world with so many amazing guitars brands, GC only offers a few to choose from.
Not a bad store by any means, a lot of variety everywhere except for in electric guitars. Could be a seasonal thing, but I didn’t see many options outside of the colors of the guitars.
Friendly staff. They helped me get all the equipment I needed to put together my own small studio
Guitar lessons was not what I expected. I signed up for virtual lessons. I Logged on to my sessions and the teacher never showed up. This happened 2 sessions in a row. I only received No-shows from the teacher. Not even a courtesy phone call of absence.
Horrible state of instrument management
Terrible customer service. Finding new vendor!
12. Earthshaking Music
Address: 648 McDonough Blvd SE, Atlanta, GA 30315 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
Just visited this store today bought some guitar strings and pics . service is always courteous and friendly great place to shop for all you musical needs and right off I-285 easy access from two different ways.
A most excellent store with most excellent service. These dudes let me play through every bass amp they had in stock to find the one that suited my needs. No badgering, just good gear talk and a great recommendation. I couldn’t be happier and definitely recommend checking them out.
It’s beautiful.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great instrument options for guitars and percussion. The location is not the best part of town; otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.
Solid.
I called on a Saturday to see if a kick drum could be repaired. The gentleman I was speaking with informed the drum specialist won’t be in until Tuesday to take a look at it. Perfectly understandable. I asked how long could the repair could possibly take, which seemed like a reasonable question, but the guy I was speaking with had an entire meltdown! Started talking aggressively and rudely. I told him to relax because it was a simple question. I won’t ever do business with this company. If this is how you react to and treat people for asking simple questions, I can’t imagine the level of service would be any better.
Selling used harmonicas at brand new prices. No boxes, sales staff insist the cases Are the boxes and are all brand new. None sealed.
Opened 2 and saw scratches on the plates.
There is a lot I like about this place, but there is definitely a problem with sexism here. The staff seems to be entirely white and male, and one staff member in particular has consistently been very patronizing to me. Without any prior familiarity with me, he consistently assumed I lack any knowledge or expertise. He told me things about my own gear as if I couldn’t possibly understand it on my own. He told me that I would be able to settle on one type of guitar I liked once I had “some experience.” At one point, while trying out a guitar, I noted it was out of tune. I was about to tune it when he quickly took it from me, saying he would be able to tune it faster than I could. (This did not turn out to be true. He actually seemed to have some trouble with the amp’s tuner.) This particular employee has been there the last few times I’ve been in, and from other employees I’ve experienced a remote surliness. I understand this is the traditional culture of music stores, but I personally am not interested in participating anymore. It’s a shame, because I think the store has a good selection and good prices, and it’s in my neighborhood. But until the culture at the store changes, I’ll unfortunately be using ebay.
13. Music & Arts
Address: 119 Cobb Pkwy N, Marietta, GA 30062 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
I have been buying guitars from Ken Stanton for almost 50 years. Billy Darling is the Manager and guitar specialist I have done business with for many years. I highly recommend Ken Stanton for all of your music needs. Great people you can trust and excellent prices!
Rated what it is for a reason
Went in to get a used cello appraised. Isaac was very thorough and knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Thanks again Isaac!
They always have the right drumsticks and reeds.
Ordered a guitar in 7/22. Got it on 8/5. Great guitar, customer service not so good.
Nice place, nice workers, but, sometimes, the prices are higher than Guitar Center on the same products.
Overall staff has been friendly and accommodating but I felt mislead about the rental process. I rented my daughter a 3/4 violin three years ago. I had to upgrade it to a 4/4 in her third year.
The associate didn’t tell me that the contract started fresh and I was on the hook for another three years worth of payments. I just kept being charged. I was finally able to return it due to covid. I mentioned the situation to the sales associate and all I got was I’m so sorry to hear that. It shouldn’t have happened that way. No offer to refund some monthly payments, etc. technically the violin should have been mine after paying for it for three years. Live and learn. So just be careful and make sure you read all of the fine print. Make them explain each step and that you understand it. Don’t have the wool pulled over yours eyes.
Great customer service
I went there to buy $3 to $4k guitar but I have this present $30dolar return that I got from a friend.
So when I tried to do the return they didn’t car and ignore me.
I have never used the drum that I tried to return but because of the service I decided to not buy there.
Wen I want to buy such expensive things I do a test fo see how they react.
So sorry Ken
Maybe you should do better service
Thanks
14. Megatone Music
Address: 44b Town Sq, Blairsville, GA 30512 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
The owner is the nicest guy, really helpful and down to earth. The store has a nice array of music equipment as well. In the near future when I try my hand at the guitar again, I’ll be back!
Great selection of guitars and outstanding customer service. For a small local shop they keep a good inventory of new and used with very competitive pricing.
Just recieved a Gibson t-shirt from Megatone. Very fast shipping and they were so kind to also provide a business card. Great place!
Out if business
Despite receiving damaged item, supplying several pictures of clear damage, and messages from seller admitting it was damaged, they refused refund. Reviews from others with similar complaints also noted. Buyer beware.
I think this business is struggling and so they will be deceitful in any way to get a few extra dollars. Beware of this business, you will not receive friendly support if they make a mistake.
I highly recommend staying away from this place.
15. Paulding Music Center
Address: 10175 Dallas Acworth Hwy # 121, Dallas, GA 30132 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
Love this place! Sent an instrument out for repair, they gave an estimated 3 day turn around and it was back the next day working perfectly. I will only use this store now!
Helpful, knowledgeable
I just bought and received a Flugelhorn from the good people at Paulding Music Center and I am stoked. The horn arrived quickly and they gave me a great price for the axe and shipping. All of my phone interactions were pleasant and professionally handled. See something you want from them online? You can have the confidence that they are good people to work with and will deliver the goods.
Great place to get anything musical. They have a good selection of band instruments and guitars. The people here are super nice and ready to help you with anything you need.
Nice for quick nearby stuff. A little small shop so it’s not competitive and doesn’t have big selections. Sells some used items, does repairs (usually sent out), and has lessons
Love this place and love the staff. Prefer to go here for instrument needs and repairs over Ken Stanton. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is because I really wish they would keep at least a small supply of basic AV accessories such as XLR/DMX cables and Gaffer tape. Lots of my local AV comrades and I would be in there often for that stuff! But that’s the only thing I can whine about. Lol.
For the person who was complaining about being charged for not showing up to a lesson …. seriously? This is no different than not showing up for a doctor’s appointment or not giving at least 24 hours notice. This is how these instructors make a living and that spot is reserved specifically for you or your child. Even if you have a good reason for not showing up, like a family emergency, you should still rightfully be expected to pay for that reservation, as it means a loss of income for a teacher. Would you be OK with your employer unexpectedly shorting you money that you were expecting to pay bills with, regardless of their reason?
I placed an order last week and I called today to find out what the status was and the gentleman told me there had to be a certain dollar amount for all the orders to be placed. Had I know this when i first placed the order I would have found another store.
I’ve been shopping here for over a decade. This is the first time I have EVER had to make a return was today. I was told there was a 7 day return policy. NO WHERE on the receipt does it indicate a 7 day policy. Very disappointed that the owner John (after all these years being of being a loyal customer) argue with me over this return.
Do not shop here, don’t bother asking for shipping either they won’t do it. They make Facebook listings than ignore customers after denying purchase.
16. Ken Stanton Music
Address: 3636 Dallas Hwy SW, Marietta, GA 30064 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
Great! Everytime I leave I end up thinking…
What a well run businesss.
What a polite and professional crew.
I look forward to going again.
Excellent customer service, knowledgable employees, great prices. No other music store has my business!
I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Adam MacKinnon from the West Cobb location! I felt a bit apprehensive and confused about what new saxophone and brand to get for my daughter who played for two years and teachers kept telling us to get the Yamaha brand. I called Ken Stanton and was able to speak to Adam who broke down the details of why teachers would doubt other brands and why Cannonball saxophones would not be a bad choice at all. I went the following week with my daughter and purchased the Cannonball Saxophone and she loves it! Unfortunately, I confused the locations and bought it from the Cobb Prkway location who had great staff as well! I Thanks again Adam for showing you cared by taking time out to explain about the product and following up with the decision of my purchase and my apologies for mixing locations.
Happy Customer, Stepheny
Smaller than the one on Cobb parkway. Friendly staff. No complaints. Just a pretty limited selection.
Wasn’t able to be in this store for 5 minutes trying to find my 4 year old an instrument to learn without two of the employees hounding him to not touch anything. As a professional musician trust me I have my son trained to be careful around expensive instruments. I also picked up a guitar to play and think about purchasing it but the guy told me they are supposed to bring it down and hand it to me, I said I know how to handle a guitar and he says “not a $1,300 guitar” I’ll take my business elsewhere.
I find it hard to believe a store would go out of their way to lose a potential sale. I live in Carrollton Georgia so I don’t get out there much and I asked to exchange an un-used microphone I purchased from them (over 90 days ago) for another item. They told me no. That’s basically it. Who says that to a potential customer? I know your starving for business but ok I’ll purchase elsewhere from now on. I like companies that are interested in my business. I recommend Willcutt guitars
Staff is helpful to get the sale but be careful… Merchandise is expensive and there’s no returns because of Covid. They don’t tell you about that detail before you spend your money!
17. Jennings Music & Education Center
Address: 3595 Canton Rd Suite 308, Marietta, GA 30066 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
Great store! The husband and the wife are beautiful people and very helpful! Thanks for being so nice.
I bought my acoustic guitar from here and the people there were really helpful
Bought my first trumpet here, and I have not regretted this decision!
Nice store. Very friendly and helpful. If I ever consider leasons for anything, I’d definitely consider them.
The people there are very friendly, courteous
Edit: I was called the day of this review and my issues resolved within the week. I have never received such a quick response to a complaint and it counts for a lot in my mind. I can tell that their reputation and customer satisfaction is important. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt regarding my previous experiences and change my review. I’m not sure why the ball was dropped previously but they made sure to fix the problem and apologize. Everyone makes mistakes but their willingness to take responsibility and handle the situation was refreshing.
BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!! I signed up for a lease to own plan for a bass at this store. The plan is supposed to include repairs and a size upgrade because my son is 13 and still growing. About 8 months into the plan the bridge was broken on the bass (a simple fix) and I was told to expect 3 weeks for repairs. 3 weeks turned into several months. I had to start going in person everyday and basically harassing the staff to give him his bass. They never gave him his bass back. They gave him a very beat up bass and told me not to worry about the appearance as he would not keep this bass and would have one in better condition once the contract was up as the size would be upgraded. However, once I took the bass home to my son he informed me that this bass was smaller than the original one he was given and so he couldn’t practice at all. I informed the store of this in August, it is now January. The store is completely unresponsive and unless I start harassing them again, they’ll leave me with a product I can’t use but still charge me monthly for it.
These people were extremely rude and impatient this evening. I was trying to reach a salesman that left another store. I need a cello but I will not buy from these people. Instead of trying to sell me something they simply hung up in my face. I called right back thinking it was a mistake and they were not kind. They lack good communication skills and have no customer service skills at all. I was expecting them to say, “… the person you are looking for does not work here but we would love to assist you with a purchase”.
Way over priced !!!!! My son in high school needed a mouth piece for his instrument. Jennings wanted to charge almost $70. You can get them for $20 in Kennesaw and YES they are acceptable and standard in the class room. Wow! I am so tired of this area trying to over charge.
18. Attina’s Music Store Inc.
Address: 378 Glynn St N, Fayetteville, GA 30214 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
The guy that works there, I think the owner, is very nice. I’ve only been there twice and he definitely wants to help you get the perfect instrument. I brought my guitar there to change the strings and he told me there was something wrong with the bridge. So its there getting worked on. My other time I was there to get an acoustic guitar he told me the different types and showed me some and was very nice. Definitely a great place to go if you are getting an instrument or they can even give lesson. Definitely 5 star. I would give 10 if I could.
Awesome people here. Great advice on a first guitar setup for our son. Fantastic guitar lessons, had him playing Metallica in a short period of time! Thanks John for your help!
Have most items you may need however they’re a little pricey most things are available for less online.
Most of the time they have what I need
Good store
Expensive, great variety
It was obvious that my presence was causing discomfort to the manager/cashier/whatever. I was not allowed to play a certain Epiphone Les Paul (not even a Gibson) because ‘they wanted to keep it clean’. I am a frikin professional guitarist with 11 years of experience and no music stores have ever denied me of handling an instrument. Highly offending for a first time visitor’s impression.
Go to Guitar Center and avoid this place, you’ll be glad you did.
Guy was on phone the whole time…and we waited. Not sure this is the norm but it was my one and only visit
19. Attina’s Music Store Inc
Address: 155 Jonesboro Rd, McDonough, GA 30253 , Quiroga , Georgia , United States
Been shopping here for many years. Rented my Saxophone from Attina’s when I was in 5th grade! Stopped in to grab some guitar strings on this day. Staff super nice.
Great place to shop for the musically inclined. Staff was knowledgeable, courteous and professional.
Got my sax fixed for $45 and it was completely fixed, even stuff I didn’t know I needed really good and fast service at a low price! You can really tell they’ve been in the music business for a while! Awesome experience!
Has or can get you anything you need
Quick and efficient service! I called to confirm that had an item in stock, and they did. When I arrived, they had the item at the register, I paid, and left. Perfect! I was there all of 5 minutes!
Kind, thorough, customer service!
They were friendly, but we kinda felt they were stand offish because my husband was asking all kinds of questions and we kinda felt that they was tired of being asked the many questions that my husband asked. They had a low selection of items and we felt that we was being pushed out of the store because he asked us a few times if we was ready to check out. So after a few times of being asked we checked out and left. Not sure if we will be going back or if we will make the hour trip to Fayetteville for all of our needs.
