Really nicely organized and super helpful owner! Lots of fun stuff to choose from 🙂
Kind of pricey for a thrift store
I love this store, and will drive 20 miles to get there. However, I’ve gone twice now and found it closed. Now, the sign on the door says 10 till 3, the website says 4:00 and the phone doesn’t take messages. This makes it risky to make the trip.
Drove out here from Spokane and it’s “surprise “ closed even though google says open. Sign on door says “smile, closed Thursday 8/4”. Darn!
I keep going in and giving this place another try but every time I go I am shocked at the prices. The clothes are super worn out and extremely overpriced. I saw a Walmart top there for $10 and you can actually get the top at Walmart for $6.96. Honestly I do not understand how this place stays in business and I for sure will not be taking my donations there
Super over priced. If you wanna save money go to Walmart and buy the stuff brand new. $20 for a shirt at a thrift store is insane. Alot of people still come here though, Strange.

They were packed inside and outside. The lines moved quickly. They were out of Root Beer. McDouble with Bacon was dry…
Food is always fresh, lines can be long but worth the wait. Friendly staff
Friendly staff, personable, food is always hot & quick service.
THAT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
Waited 30 min. And it was 330pm… 3 people were here.. awful.. had to do this several times now.. if I didn’t live in Rathdrum I wldnt go here.. terrible terrible.. shld have gone to postfalls would have been faster.
Kind of ridiculous for you guys to be cleaning the smoothie machine at 6 36 in the morning. That should have been done the night before. So it’s ready for breakfast. Lame.

NWMA has proved to be an excellent choice in music education for my children ages 9, 11 and 14. In the 18 months of attending both class and private lessons, my children have grown tremendously in their knowledge of music theory, sight reading, ear training and technical skill. Many thanks to the great team of music educators at Northwest who truly love music and those they teach.
Best …
Very helpful in finding items for your instruments. The instruction is top drawer.
4 stars because they do have a great selection, prices are fair, and the store is very clean and organized. The staff at first seemed helpful but then seemed impatient, as I was asked if I was ready to check out while I was still looking at guitars with an item in my hand. Caught me off guard as I felt rushed after only being in the store a couple minutes and wasn’t near the register. Other than that, they have a great selection of beautiful guitars and quality gear.
Was greeted when entered the store got what we needed stood in line cashier started helping us we had a couple questions we were asking cashier completely dropped helping us in the middle of our conversation he took another customer and ignored us helped other customer started talking to us again pushed us aside and rang up another customer I had to ask if I could pay for my things now he replied “ the other guy was waiting patiently” the cashier was very rude.
Seems they still haven’t figured out their customer service skills. Lots of negative reviews on here and apologies from Northwest from months ago. I also would not reccomend Northwest Music. They told me twice they were busy and that’s why my instruments were taking so long for repairs, and couldn’t even give me a date or time when they expected them to be finished, even after having my instruments for 4 days. I told them I was coming to get them and taking my business elsewhere. Only then, after I decided to pick up my instruments that hadn’t been worked on yet did they start to work on them. This is my absolute last resort music store in town.
I have mixed feelings about this place, for sure.
The employees were extremely nice and very welcoming which makes for a good experience in itself. The store was kept very clean and there was a great selection of product.
However….. we had found a drum set we wanted to purchase for our oldest son that day and they had no way to package or wrap the pieces to insure our new purchase was being shipped out the door and able to be transported safely, in fact one employee mentioned the fact that we could “throw it in the back of our truck bed.”
For this reason we walked, which was upsetting at the time since we had been told that the set we were considering purchasing was on sale at $500 off MSRP. Once we left that day we got online only to find that their “sale” price was actually the retail price everywhere else. Honesty is huge, Don’t appreciate a business putting it out there that an item they carry is on a huge sale when in actuality it’s being sold for what it’s supposed to be sold for.
Felt the way they were doing business was a little unprofessional, and shady.
We ordered the drum set through Guitar Center instead.
ADDED IN RESPONSE TO OWNERS:
The price Listed on multiple online sites WAS the retail value of that set. They did not have it listed as a sale price trying to fool it’s customers either, that’s my point here.
You speak of “matching a price,” Not sure what that’s about, I presume that was an incident with another family.
If a person needs to purchase a preassembled set, that’s great you offer that. However…. I didn’t mention that because that was not an issue for us if it was assembled already or not, that added information is straying from the true issue at hand.
I had reached out to the manufacturer when trying to find another dealer that carried the same set and that’s exactly how we started finding the true retail price of that set at many other businesses.
Your employees did look for boxes and that’s why I mentioned how helpful they were. They then told us they had NO boxes to put them in, like I said. That’s when we decided to pass since there was no way to safely get it out the door. We made it VERY CLEAR as to why we left and they were very apologetic and understanding. We even stated the fact that maybe we would come back with a bunch of boxes and blankets to protect them, but you shouldn’t expect your customers to do that.
If you have been able to safely secure items for transpiration for 21 years… I’m a little confused as to why we were exempt from that service.
I NEVER claimed there was a tangible TAG that said “sale.” The “sale” description for this set actually came straight from your salesperson working the floor. He said it was on “sale” in order to draw more local purchases. We actually got the claimed to be “sale” price and the MSRP directly from the salesperson because there was no price tag on that specific drum set.
HOWEVER…. I’M GOING TO ADD TO THIS, Just because you brought it up. You just said your tags don’t ever say “sale” on them? Why is it that we have photos of your drum sets inside YOUR store and you can clearly see “sale” written on the tag with the “sale price?” I’ll actually attach a photo (if not all of them) for your viewing. Wasn’t my issue here wether it said sale on the tag or not…. But, since you brought it up…
Whatever you feel Your overall reputation is, was not necessarily up for debate here… I stated pros and cons of your location. Our boys’ weekly guitar and drum Instructor included you in his list of recommendations. We must have just not had the full experience of what you pride your business on.
As I mentioned…. I felt the employees were as helpful as they could be, your store was clean and well stocked with product. We have made small purchases in your store since this incident, we just know now to be more aware of outside prices when it comes to larger purchases in your store.
6. Dashco
Address: 14319 W Hwy 53, Rathdrum, ID 83858 , Rathdrum , Idaho , United States
Been going there for years, friendly staff and fairly priced ice cream on amazing waffle cones that they make in the store
Great
Enjoyed the cone and icecream very busy place, good service
It wasn’t memorable
The same makes me think it should be bigger
Lousy customer service. Argumentative. The laundromat does not belong to the gas station which is the first thing they say when you bring a problem to them however they clean the laundromat and remove the monies from the machines. If there is something wrong they simple say I can’t help you and you can go down the road if you don’t like it. Pay double to get the load fixed.
Do you like gambling? Do you like spending money? If so this is a laundromat for you. Only about half the wash machines work! They are not all marked out of order. So you don’t know which ones are going to leave your close soaked. Enjoy spending your money and time being a participant in the guessing game.
Last time I was here I lost money in the laundries… They need better supervision and cleaning
7. Discount Music Supply
Address: 5380 E Seltice Way STE C, Post Falls, ID 83854 , Rathdrum , Idaho , United States
The best music store in the area. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. Very accommodating when I came in just as he was about to close.
I went to the store with my five young kids. The owner was very nice. He helped me find guitar strings for my guitar. We bought a 3/4 guitar, guitar straps, gig bags, and flutes for my younger kids. We had a good time and the prices are very affordable. I will go again soon for a guitar lesson book and more picks.
This is the soul of music place…
Needed strings. Good selection. Manager willing to help find anything you may need.
Good deals decent service.
It’s really too bad these geniuses have the most ridiculous hours of operation. Tried to explain to their feeble minds that people that can afford to spend money on musical instruments are WORKING for a living. Nobody is going to take time off of work to go shop at this place. Open at a decent hour and I’ll shop there. In the last 4 1/2 years, I’ve spent approx. $5,000.00 ELSEWHERE as a direct result of their terrible hours. This I must say is regrettable as I would much prefer to keep the money here in Post Falls. Note: I’ve heard these jokers complaining that sales are very poor at that store. No wonder.
I am on tour with my band, and I am in dire need of some new sticks. We call the store around 5:30 pm to ask them when they close. They close at 6pm and we tell them we are on our way right then. Get there at 5:45 pm and they are closed. I mean, no one there, they counted out, gone. I know many musicians who tour around the area often and I have told them to NOT go to this store. Go to Burts.
I made the drive out here from spokane based on reviews I thought it would be worth it to check it out. I got there at 3:44 and it was closed. I understand it’s in a sort of secret place but if you’re gonna close early you should maybe close around half an hour early rather than nearly an hour and a half early.
8. Burt’s Music & Sound
Address: 1123 Sherman Ave, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814 , Rathdrum , Idaho , United States
Good for music books and every day music necessities!
Great store! Repaired my daughter’s violin on the spot for a more than fair price.
I will also point out that the negative review from Greg Lapin is the exact same review he has cut and pasted on about 70 other local businesses. Apparently Mr. Lapin is your typical loser SJW liberal type that’s offended if he doesn’t see a minority employed at an establishment.
Small, privately owned type stores like this are the REAL minority nowadays.
Good people
Nice folks. Small selection.
Limited product nice guys running it though
Bad experience
My nephew wanted a simple stater pack with guitar and amp, etc. Called Burt’s and they said they don’t ever have them and hung up.
I have been a loyal customer and supporter of this local business for years. However my experience there for the past several years has been less than satisfactory. I have been made to feel as if I were a nuecense there by one of the shop owners I believe.
Unless this man is just a disgruntled employee which is the vibe that he puts out each and every time I have been there during the past several years.
I have never gone there only to browse and play instruments. I only go there to purchase musical items and support local business as I strongly believe in doing so being a small business owner myself.
This man puts out a vibe so foul and offensive that I vowed not to patronize this place ever again solely because of this.
This man acts as if he’s been awakened by a door to door solicitor at his home each and every time I have shopped there.
I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will probably make this complaint known elsewhere so that the local public can be aware.
If one is either a proprietor or an employee at any establishment where intimate customer service is the foremost priority and that individual is vicious and repulsive with an obvious disgust for customers than they need not pursue that career any longer.
I have shared my honest feelings about this. THANK you for the platform
Josh Collins is not only an amazing guitarist but a fabulous front man and storyteller. He makes his shows interesting and fun in the way he introduces songs and explains how he arranged them or how he wrote them. I’ve seen him perform numerous times and every time he has something new that amazes the audience. He is a gift in the musical world.
Josh Collins never ceases to amaze by excelling at so many things, his July, 2022 Beatles “Abbey Road” solo guitar performance included. His arrangements and delivery were mind blowing, to say the least.
Josh is truly a one of a kind musician who shows his passion no matter what kind of song he is playing! He has a very fun and welcoming personality for his audience. When he plays he is by no means just background noise…his music and unique talent captures everyone’s attention! Josh is amazing!
Josh we felt fortunate to see you perform in such a warm and intimate gathering at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural center. Your coverage of the Beatles Abbey Road album was special! And thank you for taking our request for our dear friend. Looking forward to hearing your talented playing again! Lisa and Kelly
Best purchase experience. Dave answers calls during published hours and will help you with your order. Can’t wait to get my Compact 212, will post pictures then.
I bought a 2×12 Contemporary guitar cabinet about a year ago – running an Orange Jim Root Terror through it. Sounds great, looks great, no issues, great people to work with!
What a great dealer. Dave was fantastic to deal with. Fair pricing, quick shipping and excellent products. Top shelf.
14. The Local Deli
Address: 6600 Commercial Park Ave, Rathdrum, ID 83858 , Rathdrum , Idaho , United States
Sandwiches are delicious and ingredients are super fresh!
Went to the shop for lunch and had a great sandwich. The staff was friendly and the service was fast.
Great food and service, the owner and staff really go out of their way to ensure quality food and service. Super clean premises.
Amazing sandwich. Best around town. Wish it wasn’t so pricy.
They are pretty good about gluten free sandwiches, but you may need to tell them, “I am celiac. It’s not a tad diet for me. You will need to use freshly clean Ed knives, new gloves, and the freshly opened food containers.” I haven’t been glutenated yet. The sandwiches are fantastic! My favorite is the Garwood.
Yummy sandwiches and decent prices
I like the Local Deli, however I really feel like this location isn’t as great as the Hayden one. Seems like every time we go to the Rathdrum location our order isn’t correct. Something is added that shouldn’t have been or something is missing. We ordered a turkey bacon club tonight and got no bacon on it, plus it didn’t seem like they filled it correctly as it was a LOT of tortilla folded everywhere and was lacking on the veggies and turkey.
Probably won’t make it a habit to come to this location, which really sucks because I love the food we get from the Hayden one.
This is the second time i have received a stale bagel or croissant. I received no veggies on my bagel and very little cranberry or cream cheese. I would not recommend purchasing their specials.
Today was turkey cranberry, last month was the chicken salad. The ingredient quality doesn’t matter when the bread is stale.
I’m generally a fan of this place but super agitated when I make a 25 minute ride up from Post Falls to get lunch on a Monday and find they are closed and couldn’t be bothered with updating their hours on their Facebook page. #hungryandmad
I have not hired One Street Over for an event (but certainly will when an occasion arises!), but I would travel great distances just to hear them. They are just tremendous! Bridgette has an amazing voice, Michael is a perfect pairing with her talents, and Jordan is so fun to watch and listen to on the keyboards. This is one of the very best bands around!!!
We had OSO perform at our wedding Feb in Priest Lake at Hill’s Resort. From the get-go, they were quick to respond, warmhearted, and professional. They worked effortlessly with our personal song requests and had a dazzling list of songs to choose from for the customized set. They even graciously extended their set 45 extra minutes to accommodate a rambunctious audience, which couldn’t get enough of their music (the dance floor stayed packed the entire night). The next day, everyone told us “I can’t get over how amazing that band was!” We highly recommend them!!
17. The Long Ear CDs & Vinyl
Address: 1620 N Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814 , Rathdrum , Idaho , United States
Great place for new and used CD’s and very knowledgeable staff….fun kitschy gift items!
I love this music store good ole home town goodness. Always friendly always have what I want and I have been going here for years they rock
Neat place of your looking for old vinyls or cds. Neat hippie clothing and memorabilia as well.
Love cd shopping! Great nostalgia and always super friendly staff.
decent vinyl section but always can use more metal!! very large store
There was not enough people im there to require masks(6 feet away all dal) 100 % healthy withmy 14 yr old daughter .unwilling wore the dam things in the country of freedom and bravery .
I went here around 7 tonight and the person working was very disrespectful. Me and my mom accidentally dropped one of the toys and offered to pay for it (because the seal broke) and he just kept saying “well this is absolutely useless to us now” and continued to mumble and roll his eyes, and say some mean things. I love this store and just found it very disappointing someone who acts like this works there.
Refused service for no mask, even though Kootenai Health drop mandate.
Anna is an amazing piano teacher. Our kids are back to being excited about playing again. She helps students choose songs that they enjoy playing, and uses games and incentives to keep the students interested and having fun. She is a very positive personality and is GREAT with our kids. Can’t recommend enough!
My kids started lessons recently with Anna and I could not be more thrilled!! She is the best teacher out there. The kids enjoy going every week. I’m excited to see where their future in music goes all because of their wonderful teacher !
Anna is a wonderful music teacher! She encourages her students and her love for music shines through!
These guys were amazing. We had them for my husbands 60th birthday party. They got a play list from us and made sure to use all the songs we wanted. Lot’s of DJ’s don’t allow request but these guys did. They were professional and on time. Hands down we will use them again.
They did an awesome job at my wedding!! Sean was very professional and played everything we wanted.. We didn’t have a wedding coordinator but he kept things moving and held the whole reception together. Would definitely recommend them and will use them again in the future!!
Sean did an amazing job at our wedding, he created the perfect atmosphere with the music he provided, he went above and beyond working with us before hand to find out what we wanted!
20. North Idaho Rock School
Address: 213 West Appleway Ave. Suite 10, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814 , Rathdrum , Idaho , United States
My son decided to give guitar a try so we enrolled him at Post Falls Guitar Lessons for a group lesson. We wanted to let him try it out to see if it was a good fit for him. He has enjoyed these lessons and we ended up enrolling in another set of group lessons with the idea that we will move into private lessons after this next session. Jacob is a great teacher. He works so patiently with the kids and my son has enjoyed learning from him. We highly recommend him for guitar lessons!
Great staff and great teachers. Myles has been great with helping my son get past some road blocks that he was having troubles with on his own, he past my playing level long ago. The hole process has been a good experience, and we will keep going there. My son was an advanced player before taking lessons, and I have a friend that has been taking his “new to guitar ” kid there and also says good things. I highly recommend the rock school for all playing skill levels.
Jacob was awesome with Faith. He had a great sense of humor and was cool to be around. He did really well with how fast or slow you were learning and helped in spots that you did not understand.
The instruction is 5 stars but I did have numerous billing issues that was frustrating. Hopefully its figured out.
