I am absolutely pleased with The Strum Shop! When I called to get information for possible lessons for 3 of my kids, the gentleman on the phone was knowledgeable, friendly and patient with my questions. I have one taking drums with Evan, one taking guitar with Jon, and one taking piano with Julie. I am very pleased! You will not be disappointed shopping or taking lessons!
I had an acoustic restrung and set up as well as a new Tele set up. They did a beautiful job and even cleaned and touched up the acoustic….all for less far less than Guitar Center. Along with the great service and prices, I feel valued when I go in….unlike at GC.
Great shop! Hey had exactly what I was looking for and the staff was very helpful.
Some of the repair services are cheaper than guitar center
People seem to enjoy the music lessons
Good location
Cool shop for all your strumming needs!
Cool
Went in and there was a class going on with 20+ people crammed into a tiny space, not one of them wearing a mask. Only one other person in the entire store had one on, none of the staff. Fully 1/3rd of Sac Co. is completely unvaccinated. I’m immune compromised [along with some 7,000,000 other American citizens] & disabled. The ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM of decency and community protection is apparently an outrageous expectation. They also had some absurd overpricing. I vastly prefer non-corporate local stores, but they can F right off if they’re not going to do even the simplest, most pitifully minor actions to do their part in not further spreading a wildly uncontrolled global pandemic that has killed nearly a million U.S. humans, and is far from over. Still averaging a quarter million cases a day, and over 2,000 deaths [more than any time since last winter, still]. They don’t even REQUEST that people wear some kind of face covering. Reprehensible madness, and unless this changes I will not support or recommend them to my musician friends. Please be better, nobody should be forced to exclude themselves from society JUST because of laziness or ignorance and non-measures that throw disabled folks under the bus.
I brought a guitar to adjust the action. Dan did not place the parts I asked for saying he did not have it on stock. Inaccurate repair job with replacing the guitar nut. Honestly I could adjust my guitar better than this “professional repair master” “Doctor” Dan. Waisted $80. Very unsatisfied. I would not recommend any repairs in this shop/store.
They lost my instrument and won’t return my calls. I brought an instrument in for repairs, they gave to their vendor, I talked with the vendor and he said it would be done in two weeks. After a month with no word I started calling, and they have ignored all messages I’ve left.
Hands. Down The Best Customer Service Ever!!! Fernando helped us and let me see…where do I start?? Fernando is welcoming, pleasant, a joy to talk to about any instrument, extremely knowledgeable, very professional, and did I say pleasant. Fernando has changed my perspective on Guitar Center. I have to shop here for the men in my family and for our church’s instruments. Fernando made my shopping experience absolutely wonderful!
Great selection
Best guitar center I have gone to.
Everything you need to get in one place.
Great vibes
Was looking to buy an ukulele. Very poor in-store choices. Associates I talked to were helpful. Nobody pushed me to buy anything.
This guitar center is just fine. One nit picky thing though….when people come in to get a guitar restrung, you should damn well be able to get it done. Not having a tech available, and not letting staff that have the ability and desire to restring a guitar because they dont have tech duty that shift is kinda BS. Guitar Center should accomodate the request then and there…like any other music store does. Just saying….
If you want to be placed on hold for indefinite period of time, call this place! I ended up getting my Martin and Paul Reed Smith at another local business.
We expected to find a large selection of acoustic guitars along with electric, they did have a decent selection of electric but a very slim selection of acoustic. They spread themselves thin offering all types of other musical instruments which is fine except you’re labeled Guitar Center.
Service wasn’t the best and they didn’t have what their website showed they did. Waste of time.

My son took classical guitar lessons at MIR and really enjoyed his teacher, the lessons, and the pace at which he was able to advance. It was a wonderful experience for him. I would highly recommend MIR no matter what your musical interest.
My little nephew has been taking vocal, and piano lessons from here and he’s been loving it! His piano skills have improved dramatically and his voice is getting much steadier. On my last visit the environment was very positive all around, and everybody there was very optimistic. I’m really happy to see my little nephew grow after every lesson 🙂
I and my son have been talking lessons here for years,
My neighbors also were so impressed by my enthusiasm that they took their kids there also.
The whole family had a great time seeing my shy son perform lead guitar in a recital.
The Music Institute offers one on one training making learning a fun activity.
solved all of my needs and problems at a very cheap price!
My daughter’s trumpet had 1 of the valves checking and sticking down. For no charge, he simply took the valve apart and adjusted the plastic piece which had rotated and it works like new. So polite and helpful and didn’t charge for his time to show me how to repair if it happens again.
My visit here today was great and the gentleman that I spoke with earlier (Kevin) even put the violin that I was coming to purchase for my daughter out so I could easily come in and pay then be on my way. The price was alittle more than I really was budgeting but once she opened and saw the violin I got for her she almost cried and can’t wait to show it off Sat when she has her performance.
Thank you so much Kevin for your help and making my first visit here perfect Very Much Appreciated!!
Friendly staff and very helpful.
I rented a used violin for my son from the shop. They said the price was $199. The rental was $35 per month. after two months if you want to own the violin then they said they would deduct the rental amount from the original price. But when we want to buy the used violin they said the price is $299 which is hell more than a new violin. So would recommend not to rent or buy anything from this store.
