Great shop good prices have most of what you’ll need
Nice little hardware. They had what we.needed.
Great little store.
Called ahead to buy a pool saw that they had was told they would not take the only credit card I use American Exspress so went there and brought my check book with me I live 10 min from there store everything up to date and current they refused to take a check from me I was in the store for 2 hrs because they said they had to update system and then they could take my check and it still didn’t work the worst customer service ever I will never return to this store ever
Overpriced
I was just in this store. New mandates state face masks in doors and stores. They even have a sign on the door stating mask required and yet I was the ONLY person wearing one. Even the one employee I saw was not wearing one.
2. Frank Fritz Finds
Address: 324 Main St, Savanna, IL 61074 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
In search of Frank in Illinois after going to Antique Archaeology in Iowa to see him and Mike. LOL. Great antique and dancehall with bar!
I haven’t been lucky enough to visit Franks place but hope to and hope he is there. I think Frank is the perfect example of a down to earth guy who puts on no airs and would be nothing but fun on the road.
It loses a star because there isn’t a whole lot there, but the items are quality and as more of a mechanical person I by loved the cars, oil tins, and boat motors. you have to walk through the next door bar to get inside.
Exactly what you would expect from an antique store. I really liked that there where things from his finds and the prices where not crazy…
Poor version of a antique mall. If you want to go to a bar this is the right place.
Nice people but in all honesty it was almost like seeing things that were left in an attic. It would not be my first choice to check out around the area. The parks are nice and I really would recommend bringing a boat if you plan to visit this beautiful town. Best food with the kindest people around.
The antique store was disappointing. Disorganized with poor lighting with very little items of interest. Would be ashamed to have his name on it.

Feel a little sad that the Ronald McDonald bench was removed those things are so rare to see in McDonald’s these days. Anyways, the food doesn’t really matter here it is just like any McDonalds you might come across in the USA. The inside is beautiful and is definitely dedicated to the new town. I love the mural of the bridge currently. It is also one of those upgraded McDonald’s popping up recently that has ordering TVs inside as an option which I highly doubt will be used in a small town like Savanna Illinois. The only issue is just like before the remodeling, the place doesn’t get cleaned sometimes and like the hardee’s in Clinton Iowa the floor is sticky.
Average McDonald’s
Very slow. Try to grab FAST food on lunch break and waste 15 minutes in drive-thru even if you’re the only car in line.
There trash and slow. When the pop machine was down they had bottles of pops in the back. Ice macgine is broken and I’m not a happy camper
This McDonald’s was very dirty the food was fine
5. Sippi-Side Pub Grill and Liquor Store
Address: 701 Main St, Savanna, IL 61074 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Just recently opened. I would definitely go back again. Great staff and service.
Great place to get a drink and watch your favorite team. Great to have Deb T bartending. She is the best!
Nice little bar! Clean and well lit.
Very fast service and good food
Gr8 serving staff, and great food & beverages! Wonderful place to stop for a quick lunch.
Enjoyed our quick visit. They have done a really good job inside. Cannot wait to see the back room and upper bar when finished. Drinks are standard price and size. Enjoyed playing darts. I hear they have one of the better cooks in town. Looking forward to trying the food there
Dog Unfriendly! Upper Deck U serve urself- no service! Climb the stairs Yourself! Carry beer and food upstairs yourself! Just don’t fall down! Waitresses will not go up there!
Got a basic deep fried Grouper sandwich and a burger. All Food lacked seasoning and flavor. Mediocre at best.
Fish was terrible. Other food at table was good.
6. Poopy’s Pub
Address: 1030 Viaduct Rd, Savanna, IL 61074 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Great atmosphere, great food, great gift shop. Different types of areas to eat, entertainment.
Awesome place and great food!
Excellent food!
Great destination
Great food, drinks, and entertainment.
Service is amazing. Barstools are uncomfortable.
The wings are really good. Crispy and delicious. But the service is lacking. Also, outdoors is impossible with all the river gnats everywhere. The gift shop should probably start selling #Maga hats, there are offensive things like 1/2 America and 1/2 Confederate flags for sale and this is not the South. So if you are a politically correct snowflake like me, avoid this place.
I did not hate the place, I just will not go back due to wait time. There are other establishments just as good without the wait.
It’s ok.
7. Ridge Runners
Address: 800 Main St, Savanna, IL 61074 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Excellent Food! Highly recommend when in the area.
A great place to stop on and eat good food . Dinner was great ,compounded by the great antique atmosphere. Where it opens up to Frank Ftrits Finds next door. Frank was part of American Pickers . So everything to buy was in both buildings. A good trip to go to.With a reasonable food menu. Plenty of room for a party, with opening large doors to the outside sunshine. To eat, sit ,relax, and enjoy the downtown views of days gone by and people going through the town.
Loved the burgers!!
Very cool place. Cold beer and fun atmosphere. People are super friendly. My first time there. Went to watch the Band Secrets out of Dubuque Iowa also excellent. Had a very good pizza also. Unexpected surprise. Will definitely stop again. Thanks Hawgdogs for a very entertaining afternoon.
Good food and service too I will be going back
Great service… Great food…the Iron Horse Bar even stayed open long enough for us to buy a few t-shirts…
The food will not bring us back
The food was great, but the service was one of the worse i ever had! My friends and i called our orders ahead. Even called from different numbers. Go to pay and the waitress put both the bills on the same tap. When we asked her to separate them, she got upset and told us to just pay each other back. I’ll never go back with service like that!
I’ve lived up the street from this place for a few years, and I enjoy the charm of having local music play loud enough to hear (literally) miles away, especially when the caterwauling is on tune… however, after walking around the building once a summer month for these past three years… I still cannot find the entrance. It’s not marked. They put a chair against the front door, and usually there are a few old men near the front to stare you down, like you’re an idiot for wondering if you should slide your body behind a screen to emerge behind a blaring speaker.
Local charm, but I’ll be damned if my comfortable night out starts at a place that doesn’t mark their front door.
9. Iron Horse Social Club
Address: 314 Main St, Savanna, IL 61074 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
If you’re into bikes stop in and see the collection
So much to look at, lots of old bikes and chapel upstairs
Fun bar
Very cool place. Not the greatest service, specially for no one else being in there. She was more worried about what everyone wanted to drink which is good but she ignored half the people who wanted shirts. She seemed agitated about that.
Fun place to grab a drink and peruse the scenery. Plenty to see even more if you look harder. Bartenders could have been a bit more friendly. Felt like I was putting them out to order a drink.
Pretty neat place
not like it use to be getting ran down
The owner is really rude to his staff
This place smells musty and thats all i can say. New to the area
10. Capital City Music
Address: 3700 Wabash Ave, Springfield, IL 62711 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Very helpful and friendly staff. This is the best music store around.
Great
Love this place! High end equipment, good prices, good staff
Going to get my guitar that i bought used there to get it fixed i assumed they would have fixed any imperfections before they put it on a shelf for purchase
Nice store plenty of gear in stock , staff was pleasant , prices were reasonable and they even had some used instruments for cheapskate s like me hahaa I will go back and give them some business, even though online shopping may save you a few nickel s or couple bucks shopping local and having our local business s right down the street is well worth it to me .
Very limited selection of music, they have lots of guitars and pianos, though.
The guest experience was alright, but after going in, and returning my item the staff took my return and assured me it was completed, I left and enjoyed the day, more than a week later and I have discovered the staff I talked to must have processed my return improperly since I have never received my refund on my bank statement and when I tried to call in to get the situation corrected I was told they could not find my transaction. Edit… The owner has personally reached out to me and has worked to correct the situation.
went to get my guitar set up and it came back out of tune, disappointed to say the least, reading other reviews it appears the staff might need more technical experience or organization
Took in a brand new bass to get a pickup replaced. Not a scratch on it, never played once. The supposedly simple pickup replacement took a week and a half only for them to give me back my new bass with the back of it covered in scratches and a huge glob of dried glue stuck to the fretboard that won’t come off. They absolutely wrecked my new bass before I even had a chance to play it. Worst possible experience. I am sick to my stomach about how poorly they treated my equipment and would recommend avoiding this place at all costs.
Ignored from the time I walked into the store until I left.Walked a circle throughout looking for help only to find employees chatting it up. Both looked up at me and quickly turned away and continued talking to each other. Will never get my business.
11. Front Row Center Music
Address: 1507 N Main St, Benton, IL 62812 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Guy was very helpful, had some used merchandise that saved us a ton of money. Highly recommended
This guy knows his stuff. Been going there for years for drum equip. Has used merchandise too. Lots of inventory.
Has what you need when it comes to musical instruments needs..friendly service and knowledgeable..
The little unknown place with hidden gems!..
They seam to have what you need. In music supplies.
Music store that appears to be run out of someone’s house. It smelled like stale cigarettes and was extremely disorganized. The guy running the place seemed to know his music but unfortunately I couldn’t handle the smell of smoke and was afraid that anything I purchased here would likely bring the smell home with me. Very friendly and helpful but this place desperately needs to be aired out.
Disorganized and everything is not priced with a tag, you have to ask him to look it up online in order to get a price. You may be there for an hour waiting for him to price each record or instrument you want. You will have better luck going to Guitar Center 20 miles away. Prices were not negotiable as well, just seems like a used music store should be more open minded to pricing and all.
Nothing in the store was priced. Took the time and found a stack of records I wanted to buy. He said he’d have to go on the internet and price each, one at a time. Gave him about 10 minutes to do that while I shopped. When I was ready to go, he only had one priced, and it was more than twice what it was worth on Discogs. The place was filthy and stinky. So, told him never mind on the records and I would buy the drumsticks and a kick plate. $16.09, fair price. Gave him a $20 and he didn’t have any change. Finally got so frustrated and just left. Don’t waste your time here.
12. Savanna Carwash
Address: 606 Main St, Savanna, IL 61074 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Nice, locally owned place to check out guitars and basses. Lots of parts and tools available as well as music books and sound equipment.
Don and all the guys are the best! Help this amazing industry live!!!
#MusicisEverything
I spent more than I expected (my choice) but Don made so many points in customer service I felt more than compensated. Bought a Roland keyboard Bluetooth connectivity ☺️

14. Manny’s Pizza
Address: 211 Main St, Savanna, IL 61074 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Manny’s is a classic pizza restaurant for my family. We have been eating at Manny’s for a decade and it never fails to satisfy. With the unique square cut pizza, wide-variety of types, and amazing tacos, Manny’s is simply great. The location is nice, the restaurant is clean, and the service is great. A top recommendation from me!
The tacos are good! The next time we go we will try the pizza.
Best pizza crust!
Really good pizza and mini tacos.
Stay with the Mexican menu.
Wheelchair accessibility: Good access for wheelchair
ALL INFORMATION ON WEBSITE IS WRONG. Forgot to put our order in. Had to reorder. Waited over an hour. Received no sauce. No silverware. No bag to carry our boxes. Messed up our order after making the mistake of forgetting it in the first place. Then refused to apologize OR offer anything for their mistakes.
It was horrible. I am Savanna at least 25 to 30 times a year. This was only my 2nd time here. The last time was about 5 years ago. I guess I forgot how terrible this place was. It was a buffet night so I figured to get that to try everything. The pizza and tacos were some of the worst I have ever had but there lasagna and garlic bread was pretty good. The pizza looked as they have been sitting out for quite sometime even when they just brought it out. The tacos were quite greasy and no flavor at all. The people working were very friendly and kind. Then I knew why I have not been there again since my last visit. I will not be back there again.
If you are looking for a good place to eat to Poopy’s or Hawg Dogs for lunch or dinner. Breakfast go to Poopy’s or Cafe Crumbles. They both have amazing breakfast.
The pizza is disgusting doesn’t seem to be any cheese on top of the pizza just some orange sticky substance… How does this place stay open . I had to give it one star to be able to post this because I would not have given it any stars if there was a negative rating available
15. Down Home Guitars
Address: 11 S White St, Frankfort, IL 60423 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
12/12/2013
Down Home Guitars is by far my favorite shop in Frankfort! Steve, Molly, Nate and the whole gang have been extremely kind and helpful to myself and my children. We currently are enrolled in 6 classes a week and that is only three of us. I have three more children that will eventually take lessons when they get a little older. The staff always goes out of their way to treat us kindly. I have bought 3 acoustic guitars and 1 ukelele so far! I plan on buying more and wouldn’t go anywhere else. I hope to continue taking lessons for many years to come! I always recommend DHG to my friends and go out of my way to pop in the store just to say “hi” when I am in the Historic Frankfort area. Steve is a hard working man with a passion for guitars and music which resonates throughout the store. I owe Steve a huge thanks for bringing such a warm and wonderful shop to Frankfort! Music cannot be replaced! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

Very friendly and knowledgeable. They restrung my 6 string banjo to Nashville tuning while I waited.
Down Home Guitars is a Gem!
In the style of the Old Town School of Folk Music, Down Home Guitars offers a wide selection of wooden instruments as well as lessons, concerts, and a place to jam with others.
I have purchased three instruments there and have been very pleased with the quality of the instruments and the competitive pricing.
The store carries beautiful high-end acoustic instruments. They also hold some impressive seminars and concerts. If you want the very best and can spend 6K on a guitar then this store may be for you. With a larger wallet, perhaps you will receive better treatment than I did. The red-haired owner of this store is probably the rudest retail store owner I have ever experienced. Of course, I wasn’t there to spend thousands of dollars. I simply went there to buy picks, strings, tab books, and to explore and discuss instruments with other music lovers. My initial visits were often greeted by cold, stiff, and awkward personalities. After multiple visits, I expected things would warm up, and while some staff were friendly, it was never a comfortable experience. This was especially true whenever the owner was present. Pompous and arrogant seem apt descriptions, and small talk and small wallets are beneath him.
16. SoundCheck Music Center
Address: 1481 W King St, Decatur, IL 62522 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Fantastic family oriented business! A Wealth of knowledge! Terry, John , Bill and Crew are tops ! I Highly recommend Soundcheck for you musical Needs !
They are professional
Fair prices and knowledgeable staff.
Good service!
Friendly service. Salesman help my husband and answered every question he had and they act like professionals.
Everything, but ESPECIALLY strings and sticks are ridiculously overpriced. John behind the counter has essentially no musical background. Seemingly, those who are more musically inclined work less. The instructors are awesome, but hiring them outside of the store would behoove both the student and the teacher.
If you’re considering trading in a used instrument with them, don’t. Use craigslist.
If you need to buy something new, do it at Linda’s. Better prices and more helpful staff.
REPAIRS. DO THEM ELSEWHERE. These guys will be decent to you on small jobs like restringing or intonation but a simple part replacement can be extremely expensive.
They are the only music store left in town so I try to shop there and support localy..but I was playing a guitar and the owner came up and took it from me and hung it up…no trying to help or assist me ..my sister has said he was rude to her before too. I will be purchasing from online or going out of town from now on.
17. Mike’s Music
Address: 816 E Main St A, Carbondale, IL 62901 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
I took in two guitars for a setup. One plays as good as it did when I bought it, and the other plays ten times better than when I bought it.
Always great service and products
Best place ever to me
Really nice people, just very overpriced
Very friendly and helpful. Nice to still have a brick and mortar music store in the area.
They sold me a violin for 2,000 and when I had it appraised the specialist said they cost $100 for a set of three. I will never do business with them again and I urge anyone to go elsewhere
19. Island City Harbor
Address: 305 South Ave, Sabula, IA 52070 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Great place to camp and fish ,swim ,boat or bicycle
Love the peace no time limit bring pets fun place
Amazing place, great people, nice showers highly recommend!!
Nice facility there …work in progress will be nice when complete
Very homey. Quiet. Relaxing. It was nice to have kayaks available with our stay. They also allowed us 2 bags of free ice during our stay.
Kool. Go
We recently overnighted in a transient dock at Island City Harbor while bringing our houseboat down river from Minnesota. The harbor is located in a backwater with no current, however the docks are tight together, making boat maneuvering difficult. The staff and folks on the dock here were very friendly and the sunset view was beautiful, like the others users mentioned, which is why I am giving 2 stars versus 1. We settled in for a quiet evening only to be woken up multiple times by a loud tug boat/barge coming and going in the middle of the night with bright lights and exhaust right in to our windows, YUCK! Are you kidding me?!? We WILL NOT stay here again…We don’t recommend this harbor to other boaters looking to overnight. We found the harbors upriver in Dubuque, Iowa and down river in Fulton, Illinois to be much more enjoyable and quiet.
20. Midlothian Music
Address: 15645 S 94th Ave, Orland Park, IL 60462 , Savanna , Illinois , United States
Went there to buy a guitar and the guy there was the nicest ever. You can really tell they have a passion for what they do. Very informative, friendly, and have a wide selection. Definitely my go-to music shop.
Great customer service and tons of instruments to purchase.
Great place, and selection.
Everything you need to set you up for your next gig or whatever.
And the Marshalls, WoW!!!!
Check out the dsl40 it’s everything they say and much more.
Staff is great, friendly and knowledgeable. Again, check it out. I’m sure you’ll be impressed. ️
I love all the products but at times the service was bad, other visits there were good service. Thanks!
In defense of my friend Aidan, most things you are accusing of us aren’t true. Yes we took a bass and a guitar off without asking. We were not aware of that rule because this was our first time trying out guitars at this store. Your associates did everything with the amps. They are the ones who had the volume up high. Only 3 of the 4 of us played guitars, and only two amps were available. I was cut off in the middle of a solo by your employee so that someone else could use it. Every few minutes we were asked if we would buy the guitar. I’m aware as a small business you need people to buy but di you expect a few 17 year olds to drop $500-1000 within 30 min of finding a guitar? We need things like strings and picks and wanted to buy local. After the pressure we recieved, we left without buying anything. So yes, maybe guitar center is better fit for us.
I asked for an estimate to repair a leak on my daughter’s flute. With no parts needed, they wanted $40. I declined their service and the man on the phone hung up on me. When I picked up the flute, somehow additional keys were bent and leaking. Ridiculous!
i swear i think the owner is bipolar. One day hes a total jerk to people and doesn’t let them touch any instruments without basically gloves and a background check, the next day he could be warm and welcoming and say make yourself at home…. Feel uncomfortable when i’m there
