Staff member in repairs was fantastic-I’ve always had good experiences at Guitar Center but the past two visits to this particular store and department have far exceeded my expectations! Thank you!
I know nothing about guitars and they are ok with that, they help you.
Searched 6 different stores before I found the guitar I wanted here. The staff are cool here as well. Would recommend
Always fun
Just your average guitar center. What else can I say?
Great place for audio
terrible customer service. I work retail at a local mall by wild horse pass, and I know how to treat customers. No one ever even glanced at me or provided any help, whatsoever. Half of the people who work there no nothing about there product or music in general. I was there to only get guitar strings for my brother and couldn’t even do that! This place sucks. go to the Tempe one (i received great customer service there).
I went there because i was just in the area and I recently had a broken pair of in ear monitors (not from guitar center) so I went in looking for a new pair. Someone recommended the shure 215s for $130 including warranty, and I get home and they are just absolutely awful. Like within 2 minutes of using them I was pissed. Keep in mind when I was buying them I was assured 3 TIMES that if I didn’t like them I could get a refund within 45 days by a MANAGER. So i called back the same night and was assured I could get a refund. So I go back and was told that I couldn’t get a refund at all because once they’re used. Which I was not told via time of purchase. Like how the hell are you supposed to know if they’re good or bad if you don’t use them? I know they’re around $100 but I had a pair of $45 in ear monitors that sounded better than the brand. Which I didn’t know until I used them. And even when I called I was basically told “sucks to suck but we’re not giving you a refund i don’t know what to tell you”. The only option they gave me was to buy a pair twice that price. I swear guitar center is like the Walmart of music stores. I’m not coming back here because they don’t tell you what you need to know until it’s too late. This specific location is about an hour away so it’s not like I can make the drive especially since I borrowed somebody’s car. My advice is don’t shop here unless you’re 100% certain of what you’re looking for and are certain you will never expect a return/refund. Because they will screw your over in that aspect. It happened with my piano and with the in ear monitors.
The customer service had attitude and I’ve only experienced inconveniences here. Just go to Sweetwater because that actually care.
We all know… Processed not serviced
3. Guitar Pickers
Address: 2302 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
We are VERY lucky to have this store in town. Very few places sell such unique and special stuff. Being used gear some of these amazing instruments can be attainable now. Plus, you get to play into tube amps and get a really good feel of what you’re buying. Great place. Great service, great selection.
This is the coolest little guitar shop I’ve seen in the area! They custom make guitars and do repairs on everything from amps to acoustics. I hear that the amp guy retired from Fender! This is my new guitar spot, can’t believe it took me this long to find it!
Walked in near closing time, and instead of getting greeted by sour looks of the employees, I was greeted with a warm handshake from the owner, who so kindly gave me an overview of the custom guitars in the shop and even allowed me to tour the workshop where they build their own guitars! Very accommodating people who truly love their trade and customers.
I tried a few of their own guitars. They sound great! Very lightweight, versatile. The pickups they use are amazing. I think they use a lot of swamp ash wood for their guitars.
Nice guitar selection but not many to choose from. The prices are higher than any other guitar shop in town.
Nice family owned place.
Decent selection but definitely priced at the very high end of the scale
I took my guitar in for a total fret job because I had extreme divots in a few of the frets due to play wear. I had the money set aside and I specifically asked for a total replacement fret job. I was told my guitar had enough life on the frets to do a level and crown so I gave the consent for that and even paid up front in full. A week later I picked up the guitar and brought it home. After just 5 minutes of playing on it in the living room the divots in my frets reappeared. I then pushed the G and B string down against the frets and rubbed it back and forth. Metal shavings started coming off the frets! I called the shop and was told that they filled in my fret divots with soldering wire metal. What!!!!!! Who does that? Soldering wire is soft. Only a beginner working in their Mom’s basement would think that could be a good idea. When I dropped off the guitar I told the repairman that I play six nights a week on this guitar and he fills in my frets with soldering wire???????? I got burned. He told me to bring it back and he’d fix it but why would I do that? He burned me the first time on a paid repair. Why would I allow him to touch my guitar on a free fix? Ive been told he makes some wonderful acoustic guitars but he treated me like I was some 15 year old kid who had a 75.00 guitar. I’ll never refer anyone to this shop for a set-up or a guitar repair.
I traveled over 500 miles, to be told my perfect Guild Songbird, need a complete set up…it didn’t…. it did however require a 40 dollar bridge piece for the G string compensation factor…the guitar had then battery removed for not being played reason, and when his ‘ Luther guitar tech installed a 9 volt battery in the rear, there is a plastic cover that had to be removed..when he removed the cover he inadvertently, scraped the finish at the point in front of the cover. I called Al about this, and of course he explained to me this was not the case..then they offered me a very low-end price for my Guild..other two guitars I took in we not acceptable according to the master Luther, and of course ‘AL”…..probably won’t come back here….don’t like the attempt to ‘screw’ me out of my guitar for nothing….have other friends who have done well here, not the case for me….I refuse to lay down and let some one who knows more then me(perhaps) try to pull wool over my face , on any deals…..
Got ripped off here. Have any guitar purchased from here inspected by someone who knows their stuff. These guys will ripp you off!
4. Larksong Productions
Address: Scottsdale, AZ 85251 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
This place has the best service and The most friendliest people
The most friendly down to earth music store I’ve been to. Even though I didn’t know how to play piano they let me play still. They didn’t rush me out. They made me feel very welcomed! I’m excited to start lessons here!!
Very helpful staff.
Nice music shop. Looking into violin refresher lessons.
I’ve visited the store several times while shopping for a cello. The selection is limited, but they have more on the website you can order from. The staff have always been patient with my many questions as well as willing to go to any lengths to find in-depth answers on finishes, woods and construction. I’d recommend them.
7. Gerhart Guitars
Address: 2302 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
Never have I seen attention to detail like this before I will not take my guitars anywhere else sherlin and Doug are both masters at what they do truly. Thanks to both of them so much. I look forward to them doing any future work on all my guitars. Thanks again guys.
8. Bronson Guitar Works
Address: 6830 E 5th Ave, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
John set up super low action for me. He did a great job. Adjusted it again when I came in. The guy could tune a dinner fork
John is an excellent luthier! Took my well-used 82 tele and gave it another life with a refret and rewire. It plays amazing now (probably better than original!) My new favorite axe Really enjoyed talking music with John as well—just a great dude all around!
I’ve had a Gibson Flying V , Mexican strat, Schectner tele, Jackson bass, and PRS silver sky all set up here. Extremely happy with results. Also had pickups changed in my Mexican strat. All work was top notch. Like getting all new instruments. Priced fairly and great service. Work was finished before promised return time.
It’s a good shop. I think they charge a lot and they are slow to give you back gear. I had an issue with part compatibility and instead of reaching out they didn’t and just installed and drilled into my guitar anyways. Brought another repair in for some light work and I feel over charged and underwhelmed by the service. Nice guys, great location, just wish I felt better about the turn around times and quality of work. Simple stuff should be fine. More complex stuff, I’m not sure….
I don’t want to give them with a bad review but I am underwhelmed.
Great service
Needed a neck on my bass guitar . Used their shop to buy a great used guitar.
Thank you.
Has had my instrument for over 3 years for repair work and wont return it, dont go here unless you never want to see your instrument again.
I’ve taken 2 guitars to them for setups and repairs. The good: super nice guys and really good at some things. The not so good: overall, they are no better than any place else.
I took my first guitar to them for setup and repair. It took 1 – 1 1/2 months. Repair work was reasonably priced, and they did an excellent job. However, guitar came back with metal shavings all over the polepieces. Indicates to me lack of attention to detail.
The second one was the last one for me: 2 months wait, metal shavings on polepieces, floppy/loose neck pickup (no springs underneath, which tells me pickup heights were not adjusted), and loose output jack.
They seem to be really inconsistent. Really good at some things, not so good at others. I thought they did a great job on my repair and fret dressing, but as far as setup is concerned, there are other options.
ZERO STARS!!! Brought my Gretsch in for setup, electronics check, and new pick guard. They told me it would take 16 weeks. That was in October of 2022. After that I would periodically check in, once a month, in person after phone calls would go unanswered/unreturned during business hours. The intake clerk kept making vague excuse after excuse. SIXTEEN WEEKS LATER on my fourth in-person trip to the shop I went in and demanded my guitar back (now June of 2023)…. They had my guitar EIGHT MONTHS and never touched it!!!!!! They did ZERO work on my guitar. Dust on the guitar case was the only thing I got. That luthier might be the best in the business, but he never saw my guitar!!!!!! So, there was really no point. A complete waste of time. Customer service is awful. When they say they will call you back, they won’t—three times I asked them to, and they did not. As I was taking my guitar out of the store they said, “if you find a pick guard you can bring it back in with your guitar.” I didn’t know that was MY JOB in this scenario?? They have ZERO proactive communication, so ZERO solutions. None were offered. There were ZERO apologies. Never again.
9. Arizona Drum Shop
Address: 2200 N Scottsdale Rd Suite T, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
Excellent pricing, selection and service! Ron is honest and fair on deals!
When I relocated across the country to the valley, I was happy to find a locally owned drum shop to help me rebuilt my kit. Ron, sole proprietor of ADS, has been immensely helpful in selection and service. I’ve purchased a drum set, snare drums, gig bags, hardware and have special ordered a whole set of cymbals from Ron. I could not have asked for a better experience.
The Arizona Drum Shop is the best drum shop in the valley. Ron is very knowledgeable, very generous with his time and provides great products at a good price. I’ve bought all my drum gear here for the past few years and I will continue to do so. Look no further, this is the place for all things drum in the metro area.
Had a great experience. Good selection, will definitely tell friends
Very friendly owner, very serious about giving you a good deal for what you get. The store itself is a little hard to find, as it’s tucked into the back corner of a small patio area, but it’s worth a trip. Could stand to have a bit more options for drumheads.
Not alot of drums there the shop is small no demos you can play on but the owner very smart man,I do recommend that you stop by and check this place out
HORRIBLE customer service!! I really don’t see how this guy will stay in business with the way he runs the show there. I told him I’ve got money to spend on an affordable kit and he said he would get back to me once he came up with something and NEVER once did he call me back and then I called him to ask why he didn’t get back to me and he became very negative in his response. What a JOKE!! Here I have monies burning in my pocket to spend on a kit and he cares less. Then he comes back with a lame excuse as to why he wasn’t going to call me. PEOPLE… Stay away from this hole in the wall!!
I’ll start by saying that I’m not very experienced with drums although I have put a lot of hours into pad-work and really have a passion for rhythm. I generally just wanted to shop around for a drum shop that would be higher quality than my experiences at guitar center and i figured that a locally owned shop would be the place. I expected someone who was going to be knowledgeable and welcoming. There were a few items that I was potentially interested in, but the whole visit I couldn’t shake the feeling that the older gentleman running the place just did not want me there and he gave me half-assed answers when I asked questions. I get that people in these kind of retail environments are drilled with the same stupid questions over and over and it must get tiring, but I am genuinely new to this particular industry and don’t necessarily know the right questions to ask or the correct terminology to use. If I’m not asking the right questions you could at least try to re-direct the topic with your knowledge and background in the industry towards a constructive conversation. I noticed he had a bunch of drum sticks laid out at the front counter that looked like they had been used and a practice pad nearby. Sticks were on my list of things that I was looking for and he was talking to another customer so I figured that maybe he just wanted to make sure that the other people were taken care of and I politely asked if I could try out a pair of sticks with the pad to which he said was fine. I went through a few rolls and a little basic rudiment with the sticks figuring I could take my time and really get a feel for the mechanics of the sticks while he was busy. As I finish with the first set of sticks(which couldn’t have taken more than a minute or two) I set them back down and as he is passing me by he says something along the lines of “those aren’t for your workouts”. I’m a complete stranger that walked into your shop looking for a place that would want to earn my business and keep it for a long time. Sadly, this is very far from the experience that I got. The whole visit was really uncomfortable and I will definitely keep looking for better places in town after this experience.
I went here the other day to try to support a local shop and the guy running the place (I’m supposing he owned it as well) greeted my wife and I and then proceeded to help some other guest and never even acknowledged our existence after the initial greeting. We were there for about fifteen minutes and as I’m looking around the place is a disorganized mess. Boxes and parts strewn everywhere. I looked on line and saw that he is a Ludwig Dealer. I don’t know how he can run a Retail store this disorganized and be a dealer for top of the line products? I have never been in a store that looked this bad, I will not shop here nor do I recommend this store. I can get the same products from someone who will appreciate and value my business. Update! He called me today, July 4th, 2020 at 1:41 PM and in a threatening manner told me to remove the bad review. I was honest and told Rod he did not deserve a better review and as you can see by his response he only wants customers that cater to the way he thinks, I don’t get it? SAD!!!!.
5 Star experience from start to finish with this group. Very Elegant and classical performance. They did not disappoint at our wedding ceremony. Thank you so much! Highly trusted, will book again!
Quite simply the best quartet I have ever heard. I’m extremely privileged that Riviera Strings elevated our wedding to the highest level. You cannot beat the professionalism and passion Riviera Strings portrayed!
I had Riviera Strings play at my wedding and they were absolutely amazing! Suzanne was easy to communicate with and super sweet. If you are looking for a string quartet for any event, I 100% recommend Riviera Strings!
11. TR Music & Voice Lessons
Address: 8419 E Bonnie Rose Ave, Scottsdale, AZ 85250 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
I love this music school & have been a part of it for a long time, taking solo lessons, singing in choirs, and participating in the summer camps. The teachers are all really wonderful, and there is a great community feeling to the whole place. The choirs are really fun and practice a wide range of genres. They are good for any experience level, and I have learned how to read music much better from participating over the years. I recently started taking my young daughter to the PLAY classes and we’ve been having a lot of fun experiencing music as a family.
I’m a beginner guitarist and I’m also looking forward to having my son take piano lessons from him in the future. That’s the best kind of teacher you can find.
Very quick to respond and get in touch with me and seamless to set up. The lessons are great and very personalized!
Laura and Alex provided the perfect background to my sister’s sunset memorial. Their prelude and postlude selections were spot on and they even timed a nice mashup of Now the Day Is Over and Taps, just at the sun was setting. They were also sooooo easy to work with. I had to make these arrangements from across the country and all the communications were so easy and I did not have a moment’s worry.
Laura and Alex are as dedicated to their clients as they are to their music.
I would recommend them for any type of event!
We had Laura and Alex play music for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. They have a vast repertoire and were even able to learn a piece that was very special to us for our ceremony. Their playing was beautiful, emotional, and perfectly timed. Their communication was great and they made planning easy and stress-free. We would highly recommend them for any of your live music needs!
13. Riverton Piano Company
Address: 4545 N Scottsdale Rd Suite 105, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
The staff was friendly and accommodating. They helped me find a digital piano that perfectly fit my specifications and expectations.
My husband and I purchased a new Baldwin piano this morning from Howard Kessler. The showroom is in Scottsdale, AZ. We were very impressed with Mr. Kessler! He greeted us in a warm fashion and proceeded to tell us about the pianos. Don and I learned so much and felt very comfortable about asking questions about his product. Our experience was above and beyond exceptional!
We didn’t feel it was necessary to investigate other music stores because we trusted Mr. Kessler and his knowledge. Now I can barely wait for our new piano to be delivered to our Scottsdale home!
I would say a five rating is great, but, I would make it a ten because our experience was so pleasant!
Riverton Piano Company has been so attentive helping us select, set up, and manage our piano lab where we are now able to offer music lessons in a community where many families cannot afford private instruction. Thank you, James and Sonja at Riverton, for supporting our dream to give the gift of family music making. Oxnard Music Advocacy Group, Inc
It appears they are closing with a new sign up that’s says “All Pianos Must Go”
14. The Piano Store Scottsdale
Address: 9180 Talking Stick Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85250 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
Great experience purchasing my new piano. Larry Bateman is an expert and the process was seemless.
Outstanding knowledge, kind & helpful. Would definitely recommend working with Larry & staff.
Larry was extremely knowledgeable and so helpful! He treated us with kindness and patience and helped us make the best choice.
If you want to experience excellent customer service with a nice selection of quality pianos then this is the place to go. We couldn’t be happier with our purchase.
15. Monty’s Music
Address: 4845 E Greenway Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
GREAT MUSIC SHOP! THEY EVEN HAVE KIDS GUITARS! Met Monty himself and sold me his metronome. Highly recommend!
They were so good to my son there. Showed him the drums and other instruments and answered all my questions. Excellent place!
Stopped in to pick up some supplies. Owner (Monty) was very friendly and helpful. I commented that I’d never seen a certain guitar and he took it down and let me play it even though I told him it was out of my price range. That was very nice and not something he was obligated to do at all.
They don’t close at 6. The sign says 6ish. Literally. That means before 5:45 anyway.
I love these guys, but just close at 5 or whatever. 6ish isnt helpful at all.
Rude… yep rude. Not sure why.
It was 5:20 when I pulled up and it didn’t look like anyone had been in the store all day. The sign says open until 6ish. Mom and pop store or not if your sign says sixish stay open until at least 6 for crying out loud. I own my own small business and could not imagine doing something so selfish and stupid to turn away a customer.
Most pompous, uninspiring, arrogant jerk of an owner I’ve ever met, will never return to this store, stay away.
16. Piano Gallery
Address: 9180 Talking Stick Way F4, Scottsdale, AZ 85250 , Scottsdale , Arizona , United States
There is an excellent selection of new pianos – Yamaha and Bosendorfer, as well as older pianos by other top manufacturers. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, and their pricing is very friendly as well. This store is my personal choice for piano shopping in town, and I have had the privilege of playing and owning quality pianos for over 50 years.
I was amazed with the Piano collection they have. Jim Smith is the person I and my Wife discussed about Pianos. My Son is soon going to be 6-yrs old and we were looking for a B or U series Piano. I felt they have great pricing too. We will soon be moving to a new home and probably wait until our move to purchase one.
Jim was very patient and very knowledgeable in pianos. He did not push us towards any particular piano. Answered all our questions. We became so much knowledgeable regarding Pianos after our visit. Thanks to Jim. We will soon return to purchase our piano from this store.
I have searched and compared prices and products . Was recommended to drive north and I am glad I did. Very nice staff . Very happy with the time that they spent with me. Love my piano!!!!! Thank You for everything…Ann
Great selections for Steinway pianos. But the prices were definitely not within my affordable range.
We did the rounds of piano stores so by the time we arrived here, we were unimpressed. They have damaged pianos on the floor that are sold as is, unlike other places where they ensure the pianos are in full working order. We also found their prices to be high.
The website is misleading, you can’t do any trade ins, you can sell your piano, everything is way too overpriced… And nobody really knew what was going on.

Mark is an expert at guitar repair and maintenance. His great reputation precedes him as he has serviced guitars for B. B. King, George Benson, Steven Segal, Nils Lofgren, James Woods, Tears for Fears, and Brian Setzer to name a few. I have taken a couple of my guitars to him and have been very satisfied with the results. His rates are very reasonable as well. On top of all that, he’s just a great guy. I highly recommend MJB Custom Guitars.
AMAZING EXPERT AT GUITARS AND HE ALWAYS BLESSES ME WITH WORKING ON MY GUITARS !
YOU DO NOT WANT ANYBODY ELSE TO TOUCH YOUR GUITARS EXCEPT MARK BRONSON. #TOPCOMPENSATOR.
Literally the best guitar repair shop, basically open whenever you want. This guy has fixed over 29,000 guitars, yes I said twenty-nine thousand guitars. If you have any problems (which you won’t), he’ll fix it for you again!!!! I love this guy, kind too! He fixed my friends bass and 12-string guitar. He fixes accordions too!
(Get him some hot wings as a gift too )
